Dr. Joy Davidson brings knowledgeable and insightful viewpoints to today’s most provocative issues in her work as a psychologist, sex therapist, advice columnist, speaker and author. She has reached millions of people worldwide through her presence in print, TV, radio, video and the internet.

Dr. Davidson's warm, vivacious personal style has made her a sought-after guest on hundreds of national television and radio shows, including Oprah, Geraldo, CNN News, Entertainment Tonight, Sally, Montel, Maury, Bill O'Reilly, and Leeza. She was the host of 36 episodes of the Playboy Channel’s interview-based series, "Secret Confessions and Fantasies," and the co-host of a late-night pilot for Arnold Shapiro Productions and New World Television, "Love, Joy and Randy." She has delivered talks to organizations including the University of Southern California, the Women in Management Association, The Young President’s Association, the American Association of Sexuality Educators, Counselors and Therapists, and the Society for the Scientific Study of Sex. Dr. Davidson is also the co-creator and writer behind the award winning home video series, "Secrets of Making Love to the Same Person Forever," produced in association with The Sharper Image and Playboy Entertainment Group.

Dr. Davidson is the author of Fearless Sex: A Babe’s Guide to Overcoming Your Romantic Obsessions and Getting the Sex Life You Deserve (2004, Fairwinds Press) which, in hardcover, was a selection of the Literary Guild and the Venus Book Club.

An expert commentator on sexual issues in popular media and culture, Dr. Davidson is the editor of The Psychology of Joss Whedon: Unauthorized Exploration of Buffy, Angel and Firefly---one of Benbella Books acclaimed "Smart Pop" series. She is also a contributor to four more Smart Pop anthologies, including: Finding Serenity: Anti-heroes, Lost Shepards and Space Hookers in Joss Whedon's Firefly, Five Seasons Of Angel: Science Fiction, Fantasy and Romance Authors Discuss Their Favorite Vampire, and What Would Sipowitz Do?: Race, Sex and Redemption in NYPD Blue.

Dr. Davidson’s first book, The Agony Of It All: The Drive for Drama and Excitement in Women’s Lives, (Tarcher, 1988) was described by Kirkus Reviews as: "a genuine contribution to the growing library on women’s studies." Also a selection of the Literary Guild, it was excerpted in Glamour, Ladies Home Journal, Woman, Cosmopolitan and New Age Journal.

Dr. Davidson has been the monthly sexuality advice columnist for Playgirl magazine, Men’s Fitness Magazine, Msn’s Underwire, and Msn's Women Central. Currently, her columns can be found on iFriends Love & Health channel, reaching millions of readers monthly. Her feature articles on love, sex, relationships and women’s issues have appeared in Cosmopolitan, New Woman, Family Circle, Men’s Fitness, Seasons, and First for Women, to name a few. She is frequently interviewed and quoted by national magazines and newspapers including, most recently: Cosmopolitan, Marie Claire, Redbook, Men’s Health, Prevention, Maxim, Esquire, and The Seattle Times.

Dr. Davidson holds a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology and a Master’s Degree in Counseling Psychology. She is a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and an AASECT* certified Sex Therapist, as well a member of AASECT’s Board of Directors.

Dr. Davidson hails from the midwest, but has spent all of her adult years on the "left coast" -- in Los Angeles, Santa Fe, and Seattle. In 2005 she embarked upon an east coast pilgrimage, and now resides happily in New York City.
